The Sales Engineer II consults and supports the Cox Communities sales teams while partnering with AEs and NAMs, and managed service vendors in selling complex data, wireless, and managed services including IOT & Smart Technology internet bandwidth solutions to the largest and most complex prospective MDU Owners, properties & customers. The Sales Engineer ensures that Cox sells and delivers solutions & applications that best meet customers needs; they educate and consult with customers about how to select and use Cox services effectively. The Sales Engineer coordinates technical aspects of service delivery with sales & managed service vendors, design consultants, architects, and service managers to help identify, develop and implement new products and solutions.

This position will work the majority of the time virtually to support sales, manage service vendors & clients; however, travel may be required from time to time to provide support and guidance for large scale portfolios and clients.

The Cox Communities team acts as their clients trusted advisor by supporting them in reaching their business goals of optimizing rents, occupancy, and future proofing their properties.

What Youll Do
  • Meets with prospective and existing customers and with members of sales team to collect and analyze information required to assess customers managed service needs in detail including but not limited to Managed Wi-fi and/or IOT

  • Partners w/ sales team members to interface with customers and managed service vendors to develop proposals, SOW and associated technical specifications, and responds to RFPs as needed to ensure technical integrity

  • Designs how the customers needs & network fit w/ best Cox solution network and architecture. Partners w/ manage service vendor to ensure that design and specifications meet customer needs and to ensure network availability/serviceability before orders/SOW are finalized

  • Works with product & strategy team as an active member of new strategy & product rollouts to ensure the sales teams understanding of new products and to provide technical feedback to the product and strategy team, as appropriate. Runs pilots to test and ensure feasibility of all new/customer products and solutions where applicable

  • Develops and delivers technical presentations to internal/external customers and groups as needed

  • Supports the sales organization as the technical subject matter expert. Support may include attending sales calls, delivering technical portions of the sales presentation, explaining why Coxs proposed solution is the right one, and negotiating technical aspects of the proposal, as needed. May attend vendor meetings and perform site surveys, as required

  • Coordinates internal technical resources to develop sales proposals and sales presentations, and responds to RFPs (e.g., data ops, equipment vendors) on complex, high-end solutions

  • Provides technical assistance to customers, sales team, Order Management, Project Managers, to coordinate cutovers to Cox Services to ensure a smooth and consistent customer installation experience

  • Cultivates consulting relationships with sales, customers, and forming relationships at multiple levels to provide appropriate solutions. Meets with customers as needed to review their accounts and solutions. Maintains in-depth knowledge of their business and changing technical needs; makes changes and solved problems as requires. Educates customers

  • Maintains documentation of customers data network, managed solutions, as required.

  • Attends job-related training to increase knowledge of Cox and competitor data, managed service solutions, customer premise equipment, networking, consultation, negotiation, and sales skills; attends strategic and/or development meetings w/ Sales, Strategy & product

  • Participates in internal meetings to create product packages, communicate, and coordinate sales projects with other internal parties, implement new products, solve problems, and keep up to date with information about Cox and evolving MDU industry

Qualifications: Who You Are

Minimum
  • 5+ years of experience required in related field; 3 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree

  • 3+ years telecommunications (Data, Video, Telephony) engineer or sales engineer experience

  • Strong technical aptitude, including Windows based applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong negotiation, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills

  • Ability to adapt solutions to customer needs and challenges

Preferred
  • Visio & Salesforce knowledge

  • MDU/Apartment industry knowledge

  • Managed Services experience w/ Managed Wi-fi and/or IOT

  • Consultative selling experience

  • Ability to work virtually as part of a regional or national team
