Job Title: Roofing Foreman
Location: St. Louis, MO Working Hours: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm
Working Days: Monday – Friday, 2 Saturdays per month Job Brief:A Project Foreman is responsible for being the point of contact between the homeowners, construction crew workers, and supervisors. A few of the main duties of a foreman are coordinating tasks for the day, creating schedules for workers, oversee the quality of the site, and managing the budget. What Does a Project Foreman Do?A Project Foreman directs and supervises construction workers and troubleshoots common on-site problems. They also work with the project managers, project coordinators, service department, salesmen, and outside contractors to provide accountability for the primary onsite work and project management. In addition, foremen make sure applicable laws and building codes are being followed while keeping the project under budget. A foreman's primary duty categories are supervisory, organizational, and administrative. Key Results Area 1 – Safe Installation of Roofing SystemsPerformance Standards:
  • Conduct and manage all crew operations in accordance with employee guidelines, proposals, budgets, safety standards, injury-free and without OSHA violations. This includes all operations at the warehouse, on the road, at the Jobsite, and during all company-required activities.
  • Identify all safety issues with the project worksite and implement necessary safety equipment to effectively eliminate hazards in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Invest time in planning the work, equipment, and crew requirements. This may include the operations manager, roofing specialist, and your crew.
  • Efficiently Perform Restoration work to the highest standards and communicate to the operations manager that work performed will correct the problems identified.
  • Identify and communicate with project managers, potential problems with materials supplied in the early stages of the project.
  • Know and understand the roofing problem we were hired to correct. Identify and communicate with project managers/salespeople potential problems with scopes of work and propose alternative solutions
  • Photo document on a daily basis the conditions of the project.
  • Keep the vehicle and other assigned equipment clean and in good working order. Notify and coordinate with operations coordinator repair of equipment.
  • Install Yard Sign to promote business.
Key Results Area 2 – Leadership of CrewPerformance Standards:
  • Communicate on a daily basis the goals with the crew to promote an efficient and effective working environment. Set urgent goals for the day and work to achieve them.
  • Identify crewmember strengths and work with crewmembers to utilize their talents in the highest capacity.
  • When the crew member is capable of learning more skills, train them in the proper roofing installation techniques of tile, slate, and sheet metal.
  • Notify project manager and/or human resource manager of crew members not performing to required standards of the position.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate possible solutions to management.
  • Correctly and completely record timesheets on a daily basis and report to Human Resource Manager.
  • Measure work against the budget and make corrections as required to meet goals and budgets.
Key Results Area 3 – Customer ServicePerformance Standards:
  • Introduce yourself and your crew with the client to establish a working relationship.
  • Meet with clients during work and once work is completed to confirm they are satisfied and help collect payment.
  • Identify opportunities to sell additional work and coordinate this effort with the operations manager and sales manager to facilitate successful work.
  • Communication of when will not be at the job (weather, illness, etc.).
Key Results Area 4 – Roofing Operational SupportPerformance Standards:
  • Provide help in completing all tasks required to complete the company goal of providing superior roofing and sheet metal solutions to our clients.
  • Keep all equipment in good, clean working condition at all times.
  • Identify maintenance items required on company vehicle and equipment and support efforts to complete the required maintenance.
  • Be open to new ideas and new ways of performing work.
  • Seek and participate in training activities to increase personal skill set.
Key Results Area 5 –SafetyPerformance Standards:
  • Familiarize with and utilize Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) located in Foreman Binder.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the established company safety protocols, procedures, and directives.
  • Communicate with Safety Director, Project Manager, and/or supervisor all injuries or near-misses regardless of severity.
  • Comply with the 5-step fire prevention plan prior to any hot work conducted.
  • Become a competent person in scaffolding, and receive training as dictated by the Safety Department.
  • Implement any corrections to the job site that arise from a job site audit.
  • Train and coach crew members in the importance of safety and identify areas in which additional training is required.
  • Read and discuss the weekly toolbox talks with the crew.
