Job Summary:
The House Supervisor is responsible for providing onsite leadership of all clinical and ancillary operations and monitoring and facilitating safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, patient centered care. The House Supervisor will collaborate with System Leadership regarding managing, planning, organizing and facilitating the daily activities related to operations. In the absence of the Chief Nurse Executive and the Chief Nursing Officer is the senior administrative nurse on site.

Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN is required unless an exception has been granted by the Chief Nurse Executive. BLS Health Care Provider, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and de-escalation training.

Preferred:
Master's Degree in Nursing or other health related field preferred. Certification as a nurse leader such as Nurse Executive-Board Certified, Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified, or Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives is preferred.

Experience:
Required:
Three years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse is required. Experience must reflect general knowledge in current trends and new developments, patient care, leadership, and planning. Strong communication, leadership, team building, project-management and organization skills. Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills with ability to conceptualize solutions to challenging situations and implement practical plans are required. Exceptional customer service and service recovery skills are also required.

Preferred:
Minimum of one to two years of critical care or Emergency experience and/or three years of managerial experience, with a broad knowledge of clinical and ancillary scopes of service is preferred. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, EMTALA, risk management, and emergency response is preferred.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in State of Tennessee.

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Preferred:
Certification in nursing or leadership/management is preferred.

Department Position Summary:
The House Supervisor is responsible for providing on site administrative leadership for the hospital in collaboration with all clinical and ancillary operations and serves as the senior hospital official on campus after hours, weekends/holidays and as assigned by Administration. The House Supervisor is directly responsible for monitoring and facilitating safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, patient centered care. The House Supervisor will collaborate with System Leadership regarding managing, planning, organizing and facilitating the daily activities related to operations. In the absence of the Chief Nurse Executive and the Chief Nursing Officer is the senior administrative nurse on site. Additionally, the House Supervisor will assist with program design, development, and implementation; project development and management; team member training and mentoring; strategic planning; policy/procedure development and implementation; workflow planning and prioritization; interviewing hiring and retention; and process and quality improvement.

This role will require excellent communication skills, critical thinking skills, and multi-tasking to manage the influx of considerable volume and acuity of patients entering the system. This role is requires rounding on each unit as necessary to determine the need and demand of an on the system. Additionally this role has oversight for compliance with federal, state, and JCAHO/DNV regulations and is accountable for submitting a shift report and other reports that include pertinent information to assist the designated management and administrative leaders in decision-making. Supervision of staff and documentation for any disciplinary action is required per Erlanger disciplinary policies and procedures.
