Restaurant Host/Hostess

William Massimo Rinetti founded Massimo’s Italian Restaurant in 1976. Massimo’s opening was the realization of Bill’s lifelong dream of owning and operating a fine dining establishment. A second generation Californian whose grandparents emigrated from Sicily and the Piemonte region of Italy, Bill acquired his appreciation of cooking in the Italian style in the kitchens of his mother and grandmothers. It was there that his dedication to the finest ingredients, careful preparation, and attention to detail were learned. “Never compromise quality” became the hallmark of his restaurant. At Massimo’s, every dish reflected Bill’s dedication to offering his patrons the finest dining experience possible. Delicious food, elegant ambiance, and professional service became a tradition that is carried on today by his son, Bill Jr.

The restaurant host/hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. The responsibility of a host/hostess is to warmly greet all guests upon arrival and seat them accordingly to the proper use of Open Table. A host/hostess will also answer telephones, take reservations,take to-go orders, and most importantly make sure all guest feel comfortable and are well informed of both their wait times and service. They will also help clear plates, refill waters and other duties necessary needed to ensure guest satisfaction.

Restaurant Host / Hostess / Greeter is generally offered as a part time restaurant job.

Prior experience as a restaurant host, hostess, maitre d, matradee, maitres d, or other foh, front of the house, restaurant part time job highly desirable.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Host/Hostess Requirements:

• Must have excellent customer service, patience, and politeness.
• Team player- Being a team player is necessary
• Able to speak and understand English
• Take and follow instructions in both verbal and written forms
• Basic knowledge in math and assessment
• Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation, and handling
• Able to work in a fast and professional manner
