Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator.

The New York University School of Medicines Department of Population Health (DPH) is a dynamic environment of excellence, innovation and growth with faculty across a wide range of disciplines including behavioral and social sciences, epidemiology, health services research, implementation science, evaluation, biostatistics, and medical ethics with a particular focus on health equity.
DPH is leading an exciting 4-year initiative funded by the NIH. The grant is co-led by Drs. Joseph Ladapo of the Department of Medicine at UCLA and Scott Sherman of the Section for Tobacco Alcohol and Drug Use in DPH. The goal of the NIH initiative is advance the science and implementation of financial incentives for smoking cessation interventions among high-risk, hospitalized smokers.
We are seeking a qualified Research Coordinator to provide administrative and research support. The Research Coordinator will work closely with NYU and UCLA interns, staff, and faculty. The successful candidate will have a high degree of professional maturity, commitment to excellence, independence, flexibility, and initiative, and will possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals, teams and populations both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 1. Collaborate with the study team on all elements of the study including the development of the study tool, interviews, and fielding and validation of the tool.
    2. Coordinate weekly research team meetings, assemble and distribute meeting agendas and materials, and take and distribute meeting notes.
    3. Coordinate other meetings, conference calls, and site visits with collaborators, consultants and the external advisory board.
  • 4. Provide administrative support including ordering supplies, arranging travel for study team members, ordering and distributing participant incentives, processing staff reimbursements, and submitting invoices for subcontractors and vendors.
    5. Prepare IRB submissions and modifications.
    6. Participate in the development of publications and conference presentations, including conducting literature reviews and creating tables and other data visualizations.
  • 7. Prepare standard progress reports for research sponsor.
    8. Manage recruitment efforts.
    9. Oversee planning of study activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, allied health or equivalent in a related discipline and 0-1 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under the direction of supervision. Ability to operate research related equipment. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree or equivalent in public health, sociology, psychology, health care administration, public administration or related discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of research experience required.
Experience implementing and coordinating grant-funded projects, including budget tracking, grant reporting, and IRB submissions and updates.
Attention to detail is critical.
Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and WebEx.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and work and communicate effectively with individuals both internal and external to our team.
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.
Ability to make decisions independently.
Ability to manage time, multi task and prioritize work.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems; ability to work well under pressure.
Experience with interacting with patients in a hospital setting
Competency using research related software such as SPSS, Stata, Endnote, and REDCap is desirable.
Experience conducting literature reviews
