Job Description

The Lage laboratory within the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT is looking for an exceptional, experienced, and self-motivated research associate to join a fast-paced and mission-driven collaborative research team focused on investigating the protein networks that are perturbed in psychiatric diseases. In this role, you will assist with the execution of proteomics experiments, mammalian cell tissue culture, Western blotting and immunoprecipitations. You will have a critical role in accelerating our aim to build brain networks of interacting proteins that inform about pathways and functions disrupted in disease.

Success in this role will require that you are meticulous with your lab work and documentation, and that you are able to work closely with a diverse team of wet-lab and computational scientists to assure the timely completion of the team’s research objectives.

Characteristic duties:

  • In consultation with the supervisor, conduct experiments involving standard molecular biology and mammalian tissue culture techniques.

  • Understand and faithfully execute established experimental protocols.

  • Diligently document experimental procedures, analyze data, and discuss results with the supervisor in timely manner.

  • Participate in standard lab maintenance work to ensure the functionality of lab equipment and maintain lab supply.

  • Participate in internal and external team meetings to share results and plan experiments.

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences and at least 1-year experience working in a laboratory.

  • Solid foundational knowledge on molecular and cell biology; research experience involving relevant lab techniques highly desirable.

  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn and contribute to team science

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, diligent lab notebook practices and attention to details are essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
