Job Description

This entry level position resides within the BioProcess Analytics group which is part of the Global CMC Development organization at Sanofi, Framingham, MA. The candidate will provide critical laboratory support for a multi-disciplinary team in the Bioprocess Analytics group. The team is responsible for nonGMP analytical testing support to a strong pipeline of R&D programs within Sanofi during early and late-stage process development.

We are looking for an organized, highly motivated individual who works well in a team-setting to provide laboratory support in a variety of areas. The Research Associate will be an integral part of the Bioprocess Analytics team. This dual responsible role will provide both analytical testing and development support as well as logistical support functions for BioProcess Analytics and the Characterization Team. Analytical support responsibilities include routine testing and development for multiple techniques including complex analytical equipment (i.e Octet Titer) as well as bench chemistry (i.e control preparation and qualification). Logistical support responsibilities will include ensuring analytical instrument readiness through coordination with internal and external support teams, maintaining a detailed inventory of controls, reagents and instruments utilized for support testing, providing lead support for sample receipt and distribution for required analytical testing as well as assisting in various administrative lab functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical testing support in a variety of testing platforms, in a non-GMP setting, supporting R&D Biologics Development.

  • Support development of cutting-edge technologies and analytical method platforms such as HPLC/UPLC, Octet, and SoloVPE concentration assay.

  • Provide lead contact support in a variety of laboratory administrative functions including instrument maintenance, pipet calibration and metrology coordination.

  • Provide lead support in receiving and distribution of samples for testing from internal Partner to the team.

  • Provide lead support of coordination of freezer and cold room maintenance and inventory

  • Coordinate and oversee various laboratory activities including common lab space, cold room and freezer cleanout, laboratory waste management/reagent disposal and obsolete instrument removal.

  • Maintain good communication and collaboration with internal and external colleagues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline

  • Well-organized, strong scientific curiosity, self-motivated, hard-working and detail-oriented individual able to work successfully in both a team/matrix environment as well as independently.

  • Excellent oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with UPLC/HPLC, Octet or other protein evaluation techniques.

  • Previous relevant experience in a laboratory setting using basic scientific equipment including pH meters, balances and pipettes.

  • Previous relevant experience managing inventories

  • Basic understanding of MS Office.
