Job Description

Job-Specific Responsibilities

Healthcare Markets and Regulation Lab (HMR Lab) seeks an RA to perform a wide range of research related activities in healthcare economics and healthcare policy. Areas include payment reform, health care spending, consumer and patient engagement, quality measurement, value based payment, delivery system transformation, health insurance exchanges and risk adjustment. Work as part of a team reviewing literature, collect, organize, and analyze data, support drafting and coauthoring papers, creating presentation materials, summarize and communicate information , draft reports, manuscript text or other documents for publication. Prepare PowerPoint slides, assist in proposal development, data use applications, and IRB protocols.

Basic Qualifications

Two or more years related work experience. Higher education may count towards experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Bachelors degree preferred, preferably in health policy, economics, or a health industry related field. Knowledge of health care delivery systems and relevant research populations, understanding of statistics, statistical programs, and research methods, as well as data management. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate objectives to multiple audiences. Interpersonal skills, ability to work well within a group and independently. organization and attention to detail, initiative and resourcefulness to complete tasks without high level of direction, independent judgement, patience and the ability to maintain a calm and cooperative attitude during periods of increased activity. Very high level understanding of health policy and health care systems in the U.S. Experience with statistical programming using at least one of the following: STATA, SAS, Python, R.

Additional Information

This is a 12-month term position with possibility of extension, contingent on work performance and continued funding for the position.

This Staff role is starting as a remote position due to the COVID-19 pandemic and while the Massachusetts COVID-19 state of emergency restrictions are still in place. The current remote nature of this role is considered temporary and may change as the University continues to evaluate options. While we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 guidelines, local on-campus work may be expected for some roles. Harvard Medical School does support flexible schedules, subject to individual departments’ business needs.
