What You'll Be Doing in the role of Senior Web Developer

Susan G. Komen is looking for a Senior Web Developer to play a key role in building and maintaining Komen’s web properties. The ideal candidate is a WordPress expert with strong experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Additionally, the candidate must have hands-on experience using enterprise-grade Content Management Systems (CMSs) to build websites that support personalization, localization, chatbots, lead-gen, marketing automation, and content experience software. The Sr. Web Developer will need to translate Komen’s business needs into user-friendly experiences that will expand our digital reach. The Senior Web Developer will be responsible for updating our current online applications, as well as developing and implementing a usability testing process to ensure that new website applications meet our company’s requirements.

What We Know You Will Bring to the Table

Create and maintain high-quality, responsive layouts with smooth interactions, transitions, and animations

Develop themes, plugins, and interactions within WordPress

Write semantic, modular, and accessible HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Collaborate with our design and marketing teams to create UI/UX that support the Komen Mission

Collaborate with our product management teams to prioritize development tasks, set roadmaps, and provide estimates

Responsible for developing & maintaining web properties and editorial workflows.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining analytics and marketing scripts

Responsible for designing, implementing & maintaining CMS

Responsible for integrations with Salesforce & P2P platforms including Blackbaud.

Vigilant about web standards, performance, accessibility, and usability by researching and providing recommendations on services/technologies for various projects.

An eye for details, comfortable creating pixel perfect UIs connecting to 3rd party integrations (authentication, payments etc.,)

Work closely with our business and product management teams to determine user and system requirements for new websites and applications

Juggle multiple projects and contribute through all project phases, from brainstorming to deployment.

What We Already Know You Will Have

At least 5 years of experience crafting high-quality custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.

Extensive experience working with PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.

3+ years of experience with Content Management Systems

Experience with React (preferred), Angular, Vue, or other complex front-end JavaScript framework experience.

Experience working with RESTful APIs, including the WordPress REST API

Experience with caching and performance optimization in WordPress

Excellent knowledge of modern cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness

Hands-on experience with site optimization including SEO, in-page performance, technical audits, and Core Web Vitals

Ability to lead a team of developers.

Ability and passion to solve problems collaboratively with a small team, but also able to execute independently and make strong recommendations.

Ability to estimate, plan and manage all tasks and report on progress in an agile remote environment.

Work Experience: 5+ years of experience working as a Web Developer, Web Programmer, or a similar role.

Education: Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering degree or other STEM degree, or equivalent professional software engineer experience and expertise.

Experience with solving real-world user problems at scale and building user-centered culture.

Write clean, self-explanatory code using SOLID principles and design patterns

Fluency with version control and Git flows

Comfortable using ticket-based technical project management (e.g., Jira and Asana)

Comfortable with presenting your work and receiving constructive feedback

Confident in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Effective communication skills, fluent in both verbal and written English with the ability to communicate complex topics in simplified terms.

In addition to the qualifications above the successful candidate should have:

Preferred Experience Includes

Familiar with social media integration utilizing APIs.

Experience working with Google Analytics for Web traffic reporting is highly desirable.

Update existing applications to meet latest security and functionality standards.

Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops is a solid plus.

Must have experience utilizing quality assurance/testing procedures to ensure good product delivery.

Must be an effective multi-tasker comfortable working on multiple products and projects.

Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
