The Office of Measurement Services is a unit within the University of Minnesota Institutional Analysis Department. Our diverse specialty areas include survey research and data collection, student rating of teaching, paper and online exam services, and K-12 and homeschool assessments. Our breadth and depth of services are used by hundreds of University departments and numerous external organizations, communities, and state legislature to collect quality information that meets a diverse set of needs. We've been providing our expertise to the state of Minnesota for over 90 years.

Location: Remote with the option to work in person if desired. Applicants residing in Minnesota are preferred, but all others will be considered.

Job type: Part-time, Temporary, Flexible/self-scheduling

Starting wage: $15/hr

Required qualifications: High school diploma

Tech requirements: Must have reliable internet, a computer with a camera and Zoom capabilities, and a smartphone.

Ideal candidates: Self-starters interested in or have previous experience in data collection, research, and/or call center experience.

About the position: Interviewers work with expert survey researchers on a variety of topics ranging from clinical interventions to public opinion polls. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to telephone interviewing, response coding, and data entry.

Position responsibilities:

  • (75%) Conducting interviews over the telephone with adults throughout Minnesota and nationwide
  • (20%) Updating participant information using tracking software or social media
  • Data entry, response coding, and editing

Current Projects:

  • Place of Last Drink: Establishment Managers: This project involves collecting information from Minnesotan bars and restaurants regarding their alcohol serving policies and local law enforcement interactions. The purpose of the study is to inform researchers of a program aimed at reducing overservice of alcohol.
  • Roy Wilkin's Center: Non-Profit Divestment Survey: This project involves surveying Minnesotan non-profit organizations in regards to the impact the last two years have had on their ability to raise funds and the challenges they've faced.
