Job Description
ResponsibilitiesReferral SpecialistThis position is responsible for scheduling incoming referrals for patients of Aiken Physicians Alliance providers and facilitating outgoing referrals for transition of care purposes.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Referral Management: contacting patients in a timely manner and scheduling new patient appointments, collecting demographic and insurance information, verifying insurance eligibility, communicating necessary patient financial obligations, providing new patient paperwork, answering incoming phone calls, bridge communication between provider, patient and referring provider(s), send appropriate transition of care information to referring provider(s)
  • Pre-authorizing and pre-certing tests/procedures for patients
  • Patient Records Management: data entry, scanning, copying and faxing duties
  • Maintaining referral tracking log
  • Inventory Management: stock new inventory and facilitate ordering of office supplies
  • Meet annual market goals for Referral Specialists

Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous healthcare or clinical setting experience required. Previous referral management, insurance billing and/or diagnosis coding experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and general office procedures. Knowledge of third party reimbursement regulations is preferred.
