Job Purpose

This position is responsible to manage Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality activities, Incoming Inspection activities, ISO 9000 compliance, and FAA / DOD compliance.

This is accomplished by acting as a project manager managing communication and problem solving with suppliers, developing standards and methods for incoming inspection of raw material and directing the day to day activities of Incoming Inspection, managing the day to day activities to support the Quality Management System (QMS), manage correspondence and airworthiness activities for the FAA & DOD, and directing the day to day activities of Quality support personnel. This position frequently interacts with functional peer group managers and interacts with senior leadership as needed. The interaction normally involves matters between functional areas, raw materials, suppliers and any compliance issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production and control at a supplier location. This includes supplier audits, supplier visits, and conference calls.
  • This includes communication and coordination with EnerSys Corporate Quality to solve supplier issues
  • Responsible for managing daily activities in Incoming Inspection lab, including development and approval of Quality Plans, Inspection Sampling plans, First Article Inspections, and Ship to Stock program.
  • Manage compliance to ISO 9000 standard and EnerSys Quality Management System. This includes approval of controlled documents, internal audit schedule, internal auditor training, and management of MRR and CAR system.
  • Represent the Federal Aviation Administration by acting as Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR). Maintain DMIR status by adhering to FAA requirements and recurrent training.
  • Manage compliance and communication between EnerSys and the FAA and Department of Defense (DOD). Responsible for managing daily activities of Quality support personnel in support of FAA & DOD orders
  • This includes communication and coordination with EnerSys Corporate Quality to ensure compliance
  • Manage Quality Assurance for plant, including devising sampling procedures and developing forms to ensure process and product conformity and develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material. Responsible for supervising daily activities of Quality support personnel in support of Manufacturing.

Education and/or Experience

BS in Engineering/Technology/Business with 5 years of Quality/Reliability Engineering experience and 3 years in a Lead Acid Battery environment, Knowledge of manufacturing and quality control methods.
