Job Description

The Quality Control Inspector reports to the Director of Quality and is responsible for the efficient and economic determination of the airworthiness of the aircraft maintenance work and will assigned to them. He / She will contribute to company safety by maintaining high standards of aeronautical workmanship and inspection standards. The Quality Control Inspector will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to administer all aspects of the quality control program including initiating and coordinating corrective actions, performing preventative action and continuous improvement activities, coordinating document control activities to meet both company and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Perform inspection function for aircraft, including power plant, materials parts and sub-assemblies. These functions do not necessarily include the inspection of these materials parts and sub-assemblies normally required to be performed by a technician to accomplish his own work.
  • Review the aircraft and engine logbooks at all checks and list all pilot reports and deferred maintenance items on the appropriate work cards.
  • Perform required inspection functions during all checks such as airframe and engine inspections called out on routine work cards. Perform buy back inspections on major items or non-routine work items.
  • Inspectors are required to be thoroughly familiar with all inspection methods, techniques and equipment used in their area of responsibility to determine the quality of airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance, repair or alteration.
  • All inspection personnel must also maintain proficiency as required by the Repair Station Training Program Manual, in the use of the various types of inspection aids to be used for inspection of the particular items undergoing inspection.
  • Available to all inspection personnel are current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limits, and procedures as set forth by the Manufacturer of the product undergoing inspection and other forms of inspection information, such as FAA Airworthiness Directives, Manufacturer’s Bulletins, Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, FAA Regulations, etc. are maintained in the Technical Library.
  • Responsible for the Identifying, controlling, segregating and maintaining all stock and tools to a serviceable or unserviceable category as designated by the Director of Quality.
  • Monitor all aircraft inspection records and forms, which are utilized in aircraft checks to ensure proper completion of all entries.
  • Inspectors, when assigned to a “Preliminary Inspection” function, will find and record those discrepancies requiring corrective action. The inspector is responsible to identify Required Inspection Items (RII), as defined by the customer’s General Maintenance Manual (GMM) or Operation Procedures Manual.
  • Inspectors when assigned to a “work acceptance” function check the work performed by technician to the extent specified for conformity to acceptable technical and workmanship standards and signify their approval by stamping or signing the appropriate box of the inspection form along with the date the work is inspected.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Inspector and/or Director of Quality.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145 & 121 operations and environment.
  • Must have strong organization skills and the ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented, and have the ability to work in a fast- paced environment with constantly shifting priorities.
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Possess a high degree of proficiency with MS Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Be able to work under adverse conditions in a production / aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Must be willing to work irregular schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Must be able to travel to other line stations within the system to perform duties as required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • FAA A&P certificate Required
  • Three to five years’ experience in aerospace industry quality related roles
  • Experience with Quality Control, inspection techniques, document control, corrective and preventative actions, continuous improvement, risk management, supplier reviews preferred
  • ASQ, ISO or similar certificate preferred
  • Aviation Management, Safety or related field; preferred
  • College or University 2/4-year degree preferred
