ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for developing, directing and coordinating the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs for the water utilities laboratory to ensure that all work meets local, state and federal regulatory standards
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all necessary and appropriate quality control tests are performed as stated in the quality manual of the laboratory, while also performing data verification and validation.
  • Ensure that all requirements of the NELAC program are followed and met at all times, including data qualification, limits of detention, limits of quantization, data logging and proficiency testing, etc.
  • Oversee documentation, archiving and distribution of laboratory standard operating procedures and review of completeness.
  • Ensure that all SOPs meet NELAC requirements and are being followed by all laboratory employees.
  • Perform internal audit and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Help establish analytical testing services and/or maintenance contracts and/or service and supply agreements.
  • Ensure that logbooks are prepared if necessary, and available to analyst at all times.
  • Confirm that bench notebooks, electronic records and reports to clients are properly archived.
  • Assists in proper training of new employees in both laboratory techniques and appropriate handling of samples, paperwork, etc.
  • Monitor the demonstrations of capability for current and new employees.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Licenses, Certifications or Other requirements
  • TCEQ - D Water License, must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Qualifications
  • Requires Bachelors Degree (BA/BS)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience might be considered

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
