General Position DescriptionThe Provosts and Provost of Career and Professional Programs serve as integral members of the senior leadership team whose focus is to attain the College’s vision, fulfill its mission, and demonstrate its values, in service of the tens of thousands of students who trust us with their dreams and futures. The Provosts will exemplify and promote learning-centeredness, equity-minded practice, and collaborative shared governance; and will contribute to the advancement of equitable student access, completion, transfer, and career credential attainment. They will prioritize these efforts and mindsets in their support of deans, faculty, and staff, as well as in their engagement in the local community, where they will represent the College as a community partner.

Essential Job Functions

Description of Job Function1. Support, develop, and supervise deans in their role as learning partners for faculty, including the facilitation of feedback processes that result in the ongoing refinement of instructional practices based on student learning, success, and experience data.
Description of Job Function2. Contribute to the development of the College’s strategic goals, with particular focus on equitable outcomes in access, completion, transfer, and career credential attainment.
Description of Job Function3. Lead collegewide teams and initiatives developed to advance and monitor progress toward the College’s equitable strategic goals; via participation in Valencia’s distinctive, highly collaborative governance structure and in close partnership with fellow Regional Provosts/Provost of Career and Professional Programs, Student Affairs colleagues, and other members of the senior team.
Description of Job Function4. Collaboratively lead the development and attainment of equitable pathways and outcomes in Career and Professional Programs, including their expression on campus locations.
Description of Job Function5. Develop expertise about and connections with the local communities in which the campuses reside. Utilize this knowledge and connections to inform College efforts that ensure initiatives and program development are responsive to the community’s unique and evolving needs.
Description of Job Function6. Work collaboratively with campus and college faculty and staff to cultivate an environment in which all members of the community know/feel that they belong and can thrive.
Description of Job Function7. Support campus operations through thoughtful financial management and collaboration with collegewide operations teams; advance the implementation of strategic initiatives and grant stewardship in collaboration with the resource development office.
Description of Job Function8. Serve as a reflective equity-minded practitioner and steadfast advocate for meaningful and lasting inclusion and equity results.
Description of Job Function9. Actively engage in equity-minded recruitment of administrators. Partner with the Deans for equity-minded faculty and staff recruitment, mentorship, promotion, and retention.
Description of Job Function10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Education Terminal degree in field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent based on a combination of education and experience.
Required Field of Study
Other Required QualificationsTeaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching, preferably at the college level.

Progressive higher education leadership experience, particularly, associated with college student access, completion, transfer, and/or career (workforce) credential attainment.

Experience leading a team — in particular, earning and maintaining individuals’ trust, supporting individuals and their growth, and articulating and monitoring progress toward shared and individual goals.

Demonstrated experience partnering with faculty on teaching and learning efforts.

Demonstrated experience leading work from the problem identification stage to collaborative ideation to implementation and evaluation.

Experience with resource stewardship through sound operational budget management and strategic resource planning and allocation.

Experience creating and/or leading initiatives and programs that have contributed to an inclusive, diverse and equity-minded working and learning environment.

Preferred Type of ExperienceExperience in a large and/or multi-campus college or university.

General Working Conditions

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.

Job specific working conditionsMust be able to travel locally among campus locations on an as-needed basis. Must have reliable transportation, and proof of liability and property damage insurance on the vehicle used may be required. This position requires in-office and out-of-office (community) responsibilities that will vary on a daily / weekly basis.
