Job Description
Overview: The Provider Onboarding Navigator is a new position responsible for coordinating the comprehensive onboarding processes for all newly hired, contracted and/or acquired physicians and advanced practice providers for UVA Community Health. The Provider Onboarding Navigator delivers a concierge-like and seamless provider new hire experience by providing a high level of customer service and maintaining quality throughout the pre-employment, onboarding process from the time the provider contract is signed until after the provider begins employment.
This position will be the primary liaison between the onboarding providers and internal UVA teams, including but not limited to operational and service line leaders, medical staff, credentialing, marketing, human resources and benefits, payroll, finance and managed care, compensation, legal, and recruiting. This position is responsible for obtaining, reviewing and facilitating necessary documentation required for hire to/from the onboarding providers. Additionally, the navigator supports the onboarding providers by scheduling orientation, onsite visits and coordinates day-one agendas in partnership with operations leaders. Additionally, the Provider Onboarding Navigator will support with the facilitation and coordination of provider onboarding tasks for strategic independent partnerships, as directed. The Provider Onboarding Navigator develops relationships and acts as a project manager ensuring a successful and smooth onboarding process by leading internal onboarding status calls, following up on pending items, and maintaining excellent and timely communication with providers and UVA departments.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Associates or Bachelors Degree in health care administration, business administration or related field - Preferred
  • Experience: One Year of Experience Required – Experience in project management or similar experience collaborating with large, diverse teams. Preferred – Physician and provider onboarding experience for both Inpatient and Outpatient providers. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirements
  • Licensure/Certification: Preferred – Provider Credentials Specialist Certification. Preferred – Project Management Certification.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Knowledge of project management standards and experience in successfully tracking project timelines and status updates and communicating expectations, risks and concerns
    • Knowledge of and experience with applicable software, including CRM, Oracle andSymplr, Cactus, ECHO (or equivalent) preferred
    • Skill in managing various, unique circumstances and projects as well as diverse teams and candidates
    • Skill in understanding cultural differences and experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
    • Skill in building relationships, establishing trust and respect with providers and internal customers
    • Skill in provider relationships finesse
