ABOUT CAPACITY BUILDING SERVICES: CCSI’s Capacity Building Services provides customers with specialized consultation and staffing in areas like Finance, Revenue Cycle Management, Human Resources, and Business Intelligence, tailored and scaled to meet the needs of small to mid-sized not-for-profit organizations. As systems and funding structures continue to evolve at a rapid pace, so must an organization’s business infrastructure. CCSI partners with organizations across New York state, providing the business services needed to support the not-for-profit community in delivering innovative, high quality services.
ABOUT THE POSITION: CCSI is contracted by Rise Up Rochester, Incorporated (RUR) to provide capacity building services, including specialized staffing. The Project Coordinator is assigned to work on behalf of CCSI’s customer and will provide wrap-around services for victims of crime. The Coordinator will be selected based on coordination and organizational ability, re-entry and violence reduction work expertise, strong verbal communication skills, proven project collaborative expertise, and an understanding of the nuances of the local socioeconomic landscape in the City of Rochester. The Coordinator will be trained after hire in solution focused trauma-informed care approach and a person-centered approach to complement his or her skills at the outset. The Coordinator must be highly trustworthy and reliable, as the Coordinator of many other agency partners who will be a part of CERV.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Please note: This position will include primarily nights and weekends; 40 hours per week.

  • Coordinate the community partner systemic response to gun violence victimizations beginning in the hospital and continuing in the Rochester community, remaining highly organized, methodological, and up to date on each dispute and Victim Intervention Team (VIT) contact.
  • Select (with the help of the PI and Co-PI) the community partner best situated to be the victim intervention specialist responding to the traumatic victimization and will assess over time the appropriateness of the partners chosen for disputes, and their interventions.
  • The Coordinator will administer the project over the partners by leading the discussions and analysis of the Risk Assessment Tool information, choosing the appropriate partner to be assigned to disputes, and be an integral part of the process and analysis to provide input to develop the use of and protocols for the Risk Assessment Tool used to determine which violence incidents to focus on for CERV.
  • The Coordinator will collect and improve the quality of reports submitted by partners, by analyzing them, and communicating to partners how to improve their Logs and Intervention Reports before final submission, that the VIT specialists are responsible for submitting for each dispute.
  • The Coordinator will moderate and lead the weekly triage meetings and after onboarding will do so with independent judgment to determine the appropriate intervention for each dispute.
  • The Coordinator will manage the victim intervention wraparound funds, coordinating and tracking how a disputant (participant of CERV) receives the funds to resolve disputes.
  • The Project Coordinator will be housed some of the time at R.I.T. in the Criminal Justice Department (CPSI), as well as at Pathways to Peace and on site at Rochester General Hospital. The full-time position includes R.I.T. benefits as well as travel expense reimbursement for the CERV Project.

  • Specific knowledge about nonprofits and grassroots providers in Rochester, NY who do street outreach and advocacy for gun victims preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart).
  • Two (2) years’ experience required with direct coordinating, managing or supervising others for coordinated project or employment.
  • Preferred direct experience that showcases a deep understanding of gun violence in Rochester, NY, re-entry, socioeconomic disadvantage, racism and appreciation and understanding of the trauma affecting participants of the CERV program.
  • Preferred violence reduction advocacy and street outreach experience.
