    DutiesSummary

    The Educational Service Line is currently recruiting for a one (1) Program Support Assistant (PSA) for the Rocky Mountain Regional VAMC in Aurora Colorado.


    Responsibilities

    Major duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Ability in oral or written communication skills in order to deal effectively with employees, instructors, and staff.
    • Ability to plan and organize time and workload, establish priorities, adapt to changing situations, and meet deadlines/suspense's.
    • An extensive knowledge of the rules, procedures and operations concerning Educational programs in order to perform the complex, interrelated, or one-of-a-king clerical processing procedures.
    • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation in order to prepare a wide variety of materials in final form. This includes knowledge of common terminology used in health care to complete assignments.
    • Ability to operate computer programs, AV equipment linked to a computer, and associated equipment such as printers. This also includes the ability to use various software programs available such as advanced word processing, VISTA, VATAS, Excel, Access, MAXIMO to produce a variety of documents.
    • Knowledge of all regulations and procedures pertaining to tours of duty, leave and timekeeping for both VHA and GS pay systems.

    QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/04/2021.

    Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-3 and GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

    Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

    Specialized Experience:

    In applying for the GS-05 position, do you have at least one year of specialized experience that has equipped you with particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-04 grade level or higher, or an equivalent level of responsibility. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to:
    • a. Data Management i.e. collection, analysis, storage, database management
    • b. Oral and written communication. Flexibility /Adaptability
    • c. Office skills: proficiency in excel, word, VISTA etc.
    • d. Customer Service.
    • e. Computer literacy.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

    Physical Requirements: The work places no special physical demands on the employee. The work includes some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as paper and books.
