Summary Description

Responsible for the safe and efficient production in accordance with company established guidelines. Responsible for production planning functions for the day-to-day sourcing and assembly of cabinetry and associated items for construction orders. Supervises the Metal Fabrication, Weld, Corian, Assembly, and Shipping & Receiving Departments. Interface with other departments as required and provide or arrange the necessary training of production personnel as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervision:

Supervision of direct labor employees and production processes.

Manage production employee schedules and time off request.

Daily supervision of the production processes.

Prepare and conduct quarterly employee evaluations and subsequent follow up meetings.

Promote safety through active involvement in the company's safety effort and visible support of the company's safety program.

Identify and oversee initial and ongoing employee training and development.

Participate in recruitment and selection of production department personnel.

Production:

Responsible for implementation of Production Planning.

Ensure all products are built according to the schedule and backlog.

Lead and provide input to the daily Production meeting.

Perform troubleshooting on product and processes.

ECO implementation.

Using available data ensure that there are adequate employee resources to meet the schedule demands.

Identify and coordinate procurement of any special tools, equipment, or services needed to ensure production goals are achieved.

Develop the design of new or revised cabinet items; dimensions, tolerances, construction requirements, and material specifications. Work with vendors as required to achieve a successful cost/design ratio.

Participate in the review and critique of construction plans; identify issues and make recommendations for changes to the floor plan and elevations.

Responsible for employee training and development to insure knowledge and skills required to achieve quality performance.

Inventory Management:

Work the negative on hands to minimize the negative on hand items.

Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.

Determine root cause of inventory discrepancies and apply corrective action to prevent recurrence.

Quality:

Assist Quality in the disposition of Line Rejects with Quality.

Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to coordinate new product introduction, engineering changes, process changes, and special tooling and fixtures required to assemble product.

Using the data analysis, work with the lines to institute improvements.

Work CAPA's as assigned.

Develop, implement and ensure the use of quality check lists.

Respond to Quality Alerts.

Determine root cause of quality issues and apply corrective action to prevent recurrence.

Continuous Improvement:

Lead/facilitate Kaizan process improvement initiatives.

Apply Lean Manufacturing Principles to generate improvements such as:

Reduction in labor costs

Improved Inventory Management

Cycle Time Improvements

Development and re-configuration of work cells to improve flow

Prompt regular attendance is required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Strong manufacturing background.

3 to 5 years Supervisory experience.

Experience in Flow Manufacturing concepts that use Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to create a World Class Manufacturing Environment preferred.

Greenbelt certified or trained preferred.

Experience working with Bills of Material and other manufacturing documentation.

Strong leadership skills.

Strong analytical skills.

Strong organizational skills.


Language Skills:

Read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

Ability to verbally communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Excellent communication skill, both written and oral.


Computer Skills:

Proficiency in using the personal computer, including Windows-based applications.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications.

Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory control system a plus.


Physical/Mental Demands:

Must be alert, able to concentrate, able to use good judgement and analytical skills.

Able to sit, stand and perform repetitive activities for sustained periods of time.

Uses hands to type on standard pc keyboard frequently.

Works in normally stressful environment with significant pressure.

Move about facility to interact with employees.

Multi-task on several jobs at once.

Communicate in writing, verbally over the phone and in person with internal and external customers.

Reads written information and requires the ability to understand conceptual material.

Ability to climb up and down stairs.

Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Significant time spent on shop/production floor.
