JOB SUMMARY

The Production Cost Accountant II is responsible for supporting the areas of accounting, auditing and the monthly close process in relation to the manufacturing and production process. The Production Cost Accountant II seeks to understand and work with the procurement and production teams to manage the flow of costs from procurement to sale and monitor inventory levels.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform cost and margin analysis
  • Work with production and procurement teams to identify opportunities for margin improvement
  • Perform specific tasks related to month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing
  • Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement (General Ledger) fluctuation analysis related to product costs and inventory
  • Assist with new program pricing analysis
  • Assist with production planning and inventory forecasting
  • Ensure data integrity and provide report analysis including communicating and coordinating within finance and across other departments.
  • Support cycle and physical inventory counts
  • Identify areas for operational improvement to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support audit related activities
  • Support General Accounting team as required

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
. Requirements:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA or Active CPA a plus

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years of experience in accounting or auditing
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment required

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior Experience with ERP systems required, D365 a plus
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting
  • Strong in their knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures
  • Must be detail oriented, well organized and a self-starter
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
