Job Description

The Town of Cary is recruiting a skilled and collaborative Production Coordinator to join our team as we work to support the creation of events and experiences that make Cary one of the best places to live in the Country.

The ideal candidate will be able to lead, instruct, and mentor contractors, peers, and other employees in work related to the planning, setup, operation, and maintenance of technical equipment at Town sports venues, broadcast facilities, theaters, and other performance, conference, and multipurpose spaces as well as have experience meeting with clients and determining how to both meet their technical needs for events, as well as guide clients so that their needs match resources.

The work is performed under the regular supervision of the Program Supervisor for Technical Operations.



TYPICAL TASKS:



Meet with clients to help determine their technical needs and schedule;

Develop equipment configuration to meet demands of events;

Schedule stagehands as required for assigned events;

Operate production equipment as needed for events;

Train and mentor stagehands to help them develop skillsets needed for Town Operations;

Schedule maintenance work as necessary to maintain equipment and space with a primary focus on the maintenance of Video, Projection, Event-Based Conferencing, and Broadcast Equipment in Town venues;

Supervise the operation of venues as required for assigned events;

Purchase supplies as needed for production operations in town venues;

Open and close venues as required;

Assist in planning for long-range needs of the facility;

Work with assigned clients to help them in achieving their production goals;

Work with assigned clients, communicating and enforcing policy in regard to production equipment and venues;

Cross-train on Town equipment related to Audio and Lighting systems;

Serve as the on-call point of contact for contractors and staff working events, on a rotating basis. Occasionally this position will operate equipment for events.

Assist in creating a safe work and production environment;

Perform other job-related tasks as required.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Knowledge with computers and software as it relates to equipment in the Audio, Video, and Lighting industry, including but not limited to console remotes, content playback software, lighting control software, hardware configuration software, etc.; knowledge in the area of Video Production for conferences, events, films, etc; extensive technical knowledge; general knowledge in all technical areas; ancillary skills in rigging, lighting, and sound; knowledge of video switchers, cameras, matrix's, projectors, monitors, large scale video boards, conferencing codecs, and associated audio processors, control equipment, etc.; basic knowledge of computer networking competence; excellent organization skills and the ability to problem-solve and manage concurrent projects within established guidelines. skills in the operation and basic repair of common production equipment; strong communication skills – verbal, written and interpersonal; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to established deadlines with limited supervision; ability to handle complex scheduling and exercise good judgment when bringing together production elements; ability to effectively supervise temporary employees and contractors; ability to meet the public effectively and to deal with the public in a firm but tactful manner; ability to work under pressure on projects and work with people of varying experience levels; ability to work independently and as a member of a team, with a commitment to collaboration; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures, and services; ability to adapt in a rapidly changing production environment; ability to quickly learn new skills and new equipment, establish procedures for area of expertise, and communicate and instruct others on procedures and equipment; ability to reinvent their production roles and specialties depending on the needs of the moment; ability to learn and embrace new skills.



MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in theatrical and live event production, or a related degree AND three years of relevant experience.

Requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification, and credit history review) prior to employment.
