As a Quality Engineer you will lead cross-functional teams that drive efforts in helping develop and build high quality critical components of, review in-house Engineering changes for QA requirements and ensure they are defined into document changes. The role also includes the management of key suppliers.

The qualified candidate should have the ability to:

  • Deliver solutions to sophisticated problems through in-depth data analysis and forensics by using methodical approaches, along with experience, innovation and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.
  • Determine specific quality related functional milestones during NPI
  • Team with supply chain to drive supplier perfection initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement and corrective/preventive actions with a focus on error-proofing and prevention
  • Ensure Internal and Supplier compliance by performing capability auditing and assessments
  • Ensure sophisticated Product Quality Planning is deployed across the New Product Development Life Cycle with quality built into the design, manufacturability and serviceability
  • Ensure RCCA process provides timely resolution and robust solutions to prevent recurrence, focusing on mistake proofing and process improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a Quality Engineer, or Electrical, RF or Mechanical Engineer with experience in quality.
  • Experience in service and systems-oriented product.
  • Proficiency in business acumen in managing and maintaining in support of ISO 9001 QMS implementation and maintenance.
  • Hands on experience working in a multi-functional team covering, supplier quality, product quality assurance (internal production and/or from suppliers) across a wide range of products for both land, space, and airborne systems
  • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation and interaction skills.
  • Successfully worked with suppliers, contract manufacturers and/or subcontractors implementing corrective actions and product/service improvements and QMS development
  • Experience leading and supporting all facets of failure investigations and FRACAS. Proficient with 8D, A3 or other structured FRACAS approach.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Solid understanding of GD & T and ability to read prints.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • US government position. US citizenship required
  • Up to 25% travel domestic and international

Preferences

  • Experience in industries including space, aerospace, telecom, communication and/or defense environment preferred or equivalent job experience in quality.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 / AS9110 and Space Addendums preferred. Knowledge of ISO/TS16949, TL 9000 or ISO 13485 QMS also helpful.
  • Knowledge of RF, electronics, cabling, electromechanical, fabrications, painting, plating.
  • Supplier Quality Engineering experience in driving supplier selection, qualification, maintenance and improvement/development
  • Advocate for Lean Six-Sigma Culture crafting a learning environment, a continuous improvement mindset and a view of process as a set of touchpoints and relationships to establish visual management, metrics creation, monitoring and data-based improvement.
  • Lead Auditor trained.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • ASQ CQE certification.
  • Passion for understanding of reliability improvements, validation testing and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of PLM Tool (such as Agile) as well as ERP system (such as Oracle).
