Product Manager III

Team description: The Air Experiences Product team owns the traveler experience for shopping, buying, and servicing air travel for all Expedia brands. Our team embraces a bold, customer-centric approach and the technical and analytical know-how needed to deliver results.

Business Contribution/Impact: We are responsible for improving the experience all along the traveler’s journey from finding the best flight for a trip, to getting you the help needed if a disruption occurs.

What you’ll do:

In this role you will develop, prioritize and deliver a portfolio of features and test & learns to improve the search and discovery experience for millions of travelers, all around the world. As a part of the team, you will work with local and global teammates to build a delightful product, develop a compelling strategy, and drive business goals. Most importantly, you are a creative problem solver with an eye for details and a keen focus on results.


Data Driven:

  • You will understand existing key performance indicators related to your own work and the importance of metrics in defining success (e.g., efficiency and effectiveness).

  • You will connect metrics to business outcomes and be able to identify when metric is out of a normal range and propose actions to manage. You will retroactively diagnose issues that caused metric to be out of range.

  • You will predict how much new product features will drive metric improvement.

Decision Making:

  • You will share information with others on more complex frameworks.

  • You will compile data and information to support the development of more complex decision frameworks.

  • You will break down frameworks to understand key assumptions and identify gaps and/or potential improvements.

Customer Empathy/Design Led Thinking:

  • You will synthesize customer insights from multiple channels/inputs to identify emerging patterns, trends, etc. and figure out which inputs are most critical.

  • You will articulate the needs of target segment(s) and anticipate their likely reaction to a given change.

  • You will use customer insights to develop a set of viable solutions for customer problems and to inform product prioritization decisions with manager direction.

Product Development Lifecycle:

  • You will understand and lead a cross functional team (including but not limited to engineers, content strategists, UX) through the product development lifecycle for a single product area to achieve a business goal.

  • You will design and test product features in collaboration with design and engineering team.

  • You will write user stories, acceptance criteria, hypotheses and success metrics for new product features or enhancements.

Communication, Presentation, and Influencing:

  • You will anticipate and assist team members in the creation of routine technical communication materials (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages).

  • You will proactively contribute to cross team collaboration ensuring the best available information is included in analysis and share findings with peers and leaders.

  • You will consider the audience's needs and context when crafting solutions or presenting ideas and are able to identify how the needs of different audiences may differ.

Systems Thinking:

  • You will bring a defined group of stakeholders together, identify how potential solutions could solve a problem and assess the implications of potential solutions.

  • You will outline how, why and when customers and the business are impacted by policies/processes/user experiences/ financial models/technology based on potential solutions.

  • You will map which components are impacted by proposed solutions and assist with measuring the effect on desired outcomes.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • Experienced Product manager who is familiar with agile practices, data science principles, the scientific method and reverse engineering.

  • Holds an understanding of the fundamentals of these core Product Management skills including Agile Practices, communication, data science principles, listening, scientific method, reverse engineering and business acumen.

  • Experienced serving as a SME for product features owned including the ability to demo, explain capabilities and understand technologies used.
