Job Description

Job Summary

As a part of the Sendik’s team, the Produce Cutter will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik’s culture by consistently providing “best in class” service to our guests. The Produce Cutter is responsible for preparing and cutting all produce prior to being packaged based on the production needs of the day. In addition, the Produce Cutter prepares a variety of mixed vegetable packages and dips according to pre-established recipes. The Produce Cutter will also assist with miscellaneous duties such as, but not limited to, stocking and rotating produce, filling and facing the produce wall and cleaning.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Serve customers in the Produce Department while modeling Sendik’s culture and providing “best in class” customer service
  • Prepare, cut and package all produce for the produce wall
  • Prepare and create various mixed vegetable and fruit packages and dips based on pre-established recipes
  • Assist Produce Department with stocking, rotating and facing the produce wall
  • Maintaining reports for Produce Department as it relates to shrink and movement
  • Assist with cleaning the Produce Department and prep stations as needed
  • Communicate with supervisor in regards to items that are out of stock or expired
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Produce Department
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
  • Assist with all other Produce Department duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Produce equipment
  • Prior experience with produce is preferred
  • Proficient knife-handling skills, especially while preparing large quantities of produce
  • Eagerness to interact with customers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
  • Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
