The Emerging Capabilities Development group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented and motivated Electron Beam Lithography/Laser Writer Engineer.

This position is located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - just outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor and superconducting products for internal and commercials production, as well as engineering programs. Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman’s ground based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Join us for the chance to work with an experienced and talented team while helping serve your country. Enjoy the opportunity to grow and learn with a variety of challenging projects in production, R&D, ongoing long-term programs, and new programs targeting future military platforms.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.

The Ebeam/Laser Writer Engineer will work in the coat, expose, and develop modules supporting various production and R&D process areas at ATL. The selected individual should enjoy hands on engineering development and production support within our trusted foundry cleanrooms. In addition to performing long-term in a cleanroom environment, the selected candidate should also demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others.

The Ebeam/Laser Writer Engineer will be responsible for:

  • All aspects of maintaining production processes including process safety, process control, new process qualifications, technician training, preventative maintenance, tool troubleshooting and chemical inventory monitoring.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders, including equipment vendors, engineering staff, product integration, and program and operations management, to define process needs, and establish manufacturing requirements.
  • Performing trade studies and submitting costing proposals for the procurement of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Developing new processes for emerging technologies in both microelectronic and superconducting electronics.
  • Classifying manufacturing process windows and range of equipment capabilities.
  • Writing and maintaining process documentation.
  • Performing all other related duties as required.
