PROGRAM OVERVIEW

STR?V is a social-emotional support program for young adults in need of help managing the rigors of college and the road toward independence. These are typically bright young adults that may be struggling with social anxiety, emotional/behavioral challenges, or executive skills deficits that get in the way of a successful college experience. We are located in Orem, Utah, near Utah Valley University.

Although our ownership/leadership team has decades of experience, STR?V is a growing program in its second year of operation. We are looking for a creative, experienced, dedicated clinician interested in playing an integral role in the continued growth of the program. This position can be the springboard into the Clinical Director role.

STR?V is a relationship-based program, centered on the integrated nature of the whole: mind, body, heart, & spirit. We incorporate principles of mindfulness, adventure, healthy connection, and a sense of belonging.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Primary Therapist plays a key role in the treatment of each of our young adults. He/She/They will be the primary point of contact for parents and staff in regards to the students on their case load, and work collaboratively with the residential and academic teams in the integrated treatment process. He/She/They provides excellent case management, and provides clinical services through individual, group, and family therapy. As STR?V is still growing, another important element to this position is in contributing to the refinement of the clinical model and delivery of clinical services.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Possess an affinity for relational, experiential and systemic modalities.
  • Provide case management, helping to coordinate the integration of services within the team.
  • Possess skills in discernment, therapeutic theory, intervention and teaching techniques. Planning, implementing, and adjusting a course of treatment as required.
  • Capable of holding appropriate boundaries with students and their parents, have the ability to assess and interpret student behavior, and the ability to make critical decisions based on input from multiple sources.

  • The program is located in the heart of Orem, UT, about 1.7 miles from Utah Valley University.
  • The Provo/Orem metropolitan area is in Utah County, one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires a master’s or doctoral degree in Clinical Social Work (CSW), Mental Health Counseling (CMHC), Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology. or a related discipline.
  • Licensed in the State of Utah (or can become licensed in Utah) to provide mental health counseling/therapy.
  • Experience in the residential treatment or wilderness therapy setting is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check.
  • Able to work effectively as part of an integrated team (clinicians, mentors, administrators, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and professional documentation charting skills.
  • Experience in treating youth/young adults and to create positive relationships.
  • Interest in outdoor/adventure activities (fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, kayaking, etc.) is a plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
