We’re looking for ambitious leaders to become part of our growing MCC Verstraete IML team at our location on Founders Boulevard in Batavia, Ohio! This new venture, Belgian based, startup facility in the U.S. specializes in offset printing labels on polypropylene for injection molding, blow molding, and thermoforming.

Our Assistant Press Operators are responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Perform the required administrative tasks to ensure the printing process is done within the budgeted time and cost.
  • Supplying the required materials. This implies:
    • Checking the specifications on the job letter together with Press Operator
    • Supply raw material:
      • Prepare and setup printing plates
      • Check availability the required quantities of ink
      • Check the supplied polypropylene press roll with the specifications
  • Set up of printing press feed, printing units with ink and other supply and logistics activities. This implies:
    • Supply and positioning of press rolls in the designated area at the Cutstar
    • Setup and adjust the setting of the Cutstar and press feeding guide (Fine tuning of feed guiders, foil package, retarders, side edge margin, grippe edge margin, etc.)
    • Maintain the ink reservoirs filled at an acceptable level
  • Ensure a continuous material- and ink- supply so machine stand stills can be minimized and a high quality can be achieved, extract printed sheets and de-stack dried sheets. This implies:
    • Ensure a continuous raw material supply
    • Checking (visually and electronically) the printed sheets on a regular basis (every 500 sheets) for: anti-set off powder, material feed, color deviations, side edge margins, gripper edge margins
    • Assess any quality deviations and consult press operator
    • Fine tune the use any additives, complying with legal requirements, to obtain the best quality possible
    • Transport printed sheets to the drying area
    • Perform the required administrative tasks
    • Solve any indicated production problems to ensure a smooth production
    • De-stack dry pallets to be stored on the designated area
  • Guarantee a correct administrative input into the ERP system to allow a correct cost accounting control to be performed.
  • Follow the planning of inks and mix accordingly
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of printing press to ensure a clean working environment.
  • Assist the press operator in all ways possible to ensure a smooth production
  • Set up, fine tune and operate the printing press feed (Cutstar). Operate a transporter pallet, operate interface of the printing press’ and Cutstar control panel.
  • Communicate with the press operator, customer service, warehouse operator.
  • Communicate any technical difficulties with the press operator
  • Apply the requirements for ISO9001, ISO14001 and FDA.

Perform any preventive maintenance on the printing press, clean the machinery and work environment to ensure machine standstills are minimized.

  • Check blanket and blanket cylinders and replace if required
  • Clean, remove and replace ink and dampening rollers if required
  • Empty dampening units
  • Assist in fine tuning of the ink rollers
  • Assisting the technical department during (curative) maintenance
  • Understand Risk and Safety and Hazard and precaution Statements

Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Work SAFELY- Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Be DEPENDABLE- regular and predictable attendance and work overtime when required
  • Be a TEAM PLAYER- ability to assist others with machine set?up, run, and clean up
  • Be CARING- respect others and communicate openly
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
  • Ability to work in the US without company sponsorship required
  • Strong proficiency in the use of computer systems
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on?time completion of assigned activities

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to:
  • Wear hearing, foot, eye and/or other personal protective equipment while in a manufacturing setting
  • Continually stand for prolonged periods; frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb and balance; moderate to frequent walking
  • Routinely use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and manipulate items; use hands and arms to reach for items in and around the press area; occasionally stoop or kneel while reaching
  • Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly push or pull objects up to 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include – close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color variations, and ability to adjust focus
  • Medium to loud noise environment
  • Work flexible/varying schedules and overtime hours as needed

All candidates must be able to work 2nd or 3rd Shift Hours after training on 1st Shift
