Job Description
The Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for obtaining demographic information and obtaining verification of eligibility, benefits, and all pre-cert requirements for scheduled procedures. Communicates with patients, physician offices, insurance companies, attorneys, and departments to secure financial reimbursement, promote excellent customer satisfaction, and ensure patients are timely and prepared for the appointments. Verifies insurance benefits and checks for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization, and/or referral for elective patients prior to the service date to ensure proper authorizations, pre-certifications, and verification of benefits are obtained. Counsels patients regarding insurance coverage and hospital's payment policy when necessary. Follows up with physicians’ offices when appropriate.

High school education or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred. Knowledge of insurance regulations and demonstrated success with medical collections a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Direct Admitting, Billing, or Collections experience is preferred. Must be proficient with medical software and Microsoft office products including excel. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
