Job Summary

Funds & Co-Investments, a private equity investment operation within Barings LLC, is seeking an individual to execute on the day to day portfolio management responsibilities of this growing investment platform. The candidate will be responsible for facilitating; both through direct execution as well as interactive coordination across FCI Portfolio Managers, Middle and Back Office functions, Product Management and Legal; the administration, reporting and servicing of all client accounts. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the Head of the FCI platform on a variant of client centric projects, will report directly to the FCI Managing Director designated as leading the Portfolio Management function and be supported by an analyst. The position will be located in Barings Charlotte, NC office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities are to coordinate and facilitate consistent, accurate and timely output for internal decision making and external communication for the highest possible operational quality from FCI’s investment platform. Responsibilities include:
    • Create material and lead a weekly PM meeting
    • Positioned as the day-to-day contact for all clients
    • Manage capital activity, allocation processes, accounting classifications and budgetary development
    • Act as a point of knowledge for portfolio targets, limits, dates, status, etc.
    • Facilitate and lead, with engagement of all portfolio managers, quarterly client reporting activity
    • Review and approve all external client materials, including the creation and distribution of all client pipelines
    • Support business development activity through detailed performance data and client presentations
    • Coordinate and manage the quarterly Valuation and Monitoring processes
    • Track deal status and allocations w/outside counsel for invoice approval and client billing
    • Maintain closed deal reporting and ensure accurate data flow through the PM systems
    • Work closely with GTO on system issues and improvements
    • Act as FCI’s primary point of contact with Product Management, Business Management, Legal, Accounting, Client Onboarding, Compliance, and Technology teams
  • Candidate will be an integral member of the FCI team and work with all senior members of the business unit
  • Candidate will develop a deep understanding of the FCI business and be able to articulate that knowledge internally and externally
  • Candidate will have significant interaction with other members of the Private Markets Group

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from a top-ranked university
  • Over 5 years of portfolio administrative experience in illiquid asset classes of the alternative investments universe
  • Prior experience across areas such as client engagement, cash management, portfolio monitoring and criteria measures, performance tracking and benchmarking, quality control management and data analytics is expected
  • Analytic orientation with a problem solving mind-set and an attention to details is a necessity
  • Capable of operating in “white space” for the development of solutions
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with high-level executives and investors
  • Presentation capabilities and refined verbal and written communications skills
  • A high degree of proficiency with various Barings software including Salesforce, Everest, Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
