The Opportunity:
OpenText (OT) Professional Services is an enabler to our customers seeking to realize Return on Investment (ROI) from their investment in OpenText Enterprise Information Management (EIM) products.

As the Director, Project Management in Professional Services, you will be responsible for all aspects related to successful project delivery of services in your territory. This includes the project management oversight of solutions based on OT products including development and support of custom solutions. The Director role works closely with their Project Managers and OT leads for other value-add services that can be provided to the clients in relation to solution realization including learning services, managed services, and cloud services. The Director also liaises with and brokers relationships with OT partners and other contractors to establish relationships in general and for specific projects.

The Director is responsible for project profitability and delivery success for the region while actively supporting peers in Professional Services on the OTPS mission of revenue, margin, and reference-ability. The Director is also responsible for the management of a team of project managers, based in the region, including hiring, performance & compensation management, professional development, and other manager responsibilities. The Director of Professional Services will be responsible for meeting and exceeding all the objectives set by the Professional Services leadership team.

Job Duties:
  • Staff according to territory requirements;
  • Ensure/maintain formal qualifications and certificates for all staff including: product and method certifications, security clearances, and work visas where required;
  • Manage team efficiency according to Budget;
  • Manage direct reports. Make sure career plans, training plan, and reviews are completed;
  • Ensure timely delivery and management of resource forecasting, opportunity forecasting, proposal/SOW writing and achieving required approvals, contract and invoicing status using appropriate tools available;
  • Provide support and mentoring to team leaders to promote project management skills and experience;
  • Provide leadership in promoting, identifying, recommending and implementing improvements to any processes;
  • Promote and audit good information management (knowledge management and recordkeeping) for information and records reflecting on account intelligence, business decisions and commitments, and deliverables prepared for customers;
  • Build and maintain a productive rapport with staff and management across Global Technical Services (GTS), Product/R&D, etc.
  • Appropriate review of planning and direction for all of the projects in region including planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessment, cost/benefit analyses, establishing milestones, deliverables and budgets as per the PSPM Methodology.
  • Coordination and direction of all functional groups involved with a project, in order to meet the project requirements (Time, Functionality, Quality and Cost).
  • Work with Project Managers on the formulation and management of strategies and project plans including:
1) Management of deliverables
2) Determination and tracking of project plans (including Work Breakdown Structures, timelines, resource plan training plans and any other related contractual milestones, plans, or milestones)
3) Regular project reviews and reporting
4) On-going risk, issue and change management; This is to be done for both time and material and fixed fee engagements.
  • Manage and support multiple deployment teams by client account to ensure project tracking and reporting is timely, complete and accurate;
  • Primary contact point to facilitate efficient communications and pro-active problem identification and resolution including management of escalated issues;
  • Lead negotiations with vendors and clients on a regular basis;
  • Analyze and make decisions on projects, considering project functionality, cost, schedule, and quality and making trade-offs as appropriate for each project being managed
  • Negotiate project deliverables/schedules/costing for services from external suppliers or other groups within Open Text;
  • Define, forecast, manage, and report on project resources (people, capital, expenses);
  • Review of release and detailed functional specifications to ensure project scope and compliance;
  • Analyze and manage project changes, including design/scope change requests;
  • Ensure timely delivery of regular project status updates to the Manager, Professional Services;
  • Track all decisions made regarding requests for change, identified risks and outstanding items;
  • Provide leadership and support to members of the project teams;
  • Track, monitor, and communicate project progress against the project plan, requirements, quality measures, standard processes, and milestones.
What you Bring:
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and facilitation skills including presentations to C-Suite executives, senior leadership, peer groups, and associates
  • Must have strong interpersonal/negotiation skills, including conflict resolution with senior leadership required. Ability to garner support and operate with political savvy
  • Leadership: Successfully manage different styles of employees; Provide clear direction and effective coaching
  • University Degree or College Diploma combined with relevant IM/IT experience (10+ years) or equivalent.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an asset.
