Plant Manager

Reports to the Operations Director, DG/AP


Job dimensions

  • Provide the leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of the plant's operation
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the plant and compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting site and business Key Performance Indicators.
  • Responsible for plant start up to meet customer demand requirements


Activities

  • Develop, institute and carry through an ever-improving Safety Program to achieve the ultimate goal of no safety or environmental incidents.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Marketing and Sales to achieve the best On- Time Delivery results while meeting the financial and inventory goals of the plant.
  • Achieve the Petersburg Expense Budget while optimizing operations to attain identified Cost Saving Measures.
  • In coordination with R&D, PLM and commercial teams, introduce and optimize new products in a timely manner and make improvements to existing products to meet the market demands.
  • Develop programs, policies and procedures to continuously improve the quality and productivity of the plant while greatly reducing inventories.
  • Develop and reinforce a plant culture of continuous improvement via employee involvement, development, and commitment to effective execution of plant goals.
  • Create and maintain a positive and open employee relations environment in harmony with the values of Bostik. Coach, train and motivate team members to achieve business outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation of the organization’s vision and growth strategies and execute the business and operations plans at the plant to achieve revenue, profit, and performance targets. This includes the management and execution of site capital plan.
  • Responsible maintain the standards defined in the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations.


Context and environment

  • A fast paced, high-pressure environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities.
  • You will participate in activities and projects within the plant and also outside the plant.
  • Travel less than 10%.
  • Heavy use of computer software, both Microsoft Office based and SAP enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.
  • Expectation is that a good portion or Plant Manager’s time is spent on the floor, must be willing to be present/visible with all shifts. Desired >40%


Accountabilities

  • Leadership of plant activities to meet plant and business objectives.
  • Accountable for all aspects of plant performance.


Qualifications / experience required

  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with Lean implementation
  • Experience in Supervision and Management of Manufacturing Operations and/or Engineering
  • Minimum Experience of 5 yrs. as a Production/Operations manager in a ‘larger’ site or at least 3yrs prior experience as a ’small plant’ plant manager.
  • Prior experience of Project Management, Process Engineering and Regulatory preferred
  • Prior experience of working in extrusion, specifically blown film is advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, navigating and leading in complex matrix organization
  • Prior experience in a PSM, GMP or other highly regulated facility desired
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and develop others while fostering a team environment
  • Adaptable to change
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
