La Jolla Vein Care is an accredited vein and vascular imaging center. We are San Diego's leading providers for the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency and venous leg ulcers since 2010. This year we will be expanding our services to include interventions for women's vascular conditions such as pelvic venous congestion and pelvic varicose veins. We have also opened satellite clinics. Immediate opening for a friendly, self motivated, energetic, professional and licensed NP / PA to join our vein/ vascular practice. Helpful to have experience in prior vein clinic, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, or cardiology, but not required. New grads welcome as training is available.

The position requires the candidate to travel to 3 satellite locations. Our main location is in La Jolla on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital but our satellite clinics are in Poway (2-4 days/ month), Chula Vista (2-4 days/ month) and La Mesa (2-4 days/ month)


The primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform new patient consultations and assessment for medical vein/vascular procedures.
  • Emphasis on patient education: much of the visit is patient education.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative visits (including a thorough health/risk assessment at preops)
  • Basic understanding and interpretation of Duplex ultrasonography (training will be provided) and being able to clearly explain to patients, discuss treatment options with patients.
  • Depending on experience and background, may be able to perform cosmetic sclerotherapy.
  • Must look, behave highly professional and provide excellent customer service to patients.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of procedures or treatments
  • Average of 10-16 patients a day
  • Appropriate on-time electronic record keeping and efficiency with EMR.
  • Assisting physician in vein patients examination and procedures, if needed
  • Experience helpful (but not required) in a clinical setting. Again, vein clinic experience, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, or vascular background.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, colleagues, etc. Organized and detail oriented.
  • Well-mannered and EXCEPTIONAL patient/customer service skills is mandatory.
  • Outstanding communication skills; able to explain venous disease to patients, caregivers, and referring physicians.
  • Strong patient advocacy, impeccable morale and ethical character, and strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in sclerotherapy or cosmetic injections is a plus but not strongly required.
  • Bilingual Spanish -English helpful.
  • Willing to drive to our 3 satellite locations (Poway, Chula Vista, La Mesa) on different days as needed by the practice

Position Details:

40 hours a week, 5 days week, Long-term opportunity only, no transitional please.

Competetive base pay plus productivity bonus.

Pay depends on experience and expertise in the field.

After one year of employment, eligible for 401K with employer profit share contribution, plus additional paid week for CME and $2500 CME.

1. Current licensure in State of California

2. California Board Certification or Board Eligible as a Nurse Practitioner / PA

3. Current CPR certification

4. Bilingual in Spanish - English helpful but not required

6. Physically capable of wound dressings and application of compression stockings if needed.

7. COVID-19 vaccination and up to date with booster required
