Job Description
Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Tech Supervisor, the Pharmacy Technician I/II/III will assist and support the pharmacist in the day-to-day dispensing operation of patient care. The dispensing operation includes working the filling queue within the dispensing software, gathering the appropriate medication, operating the automated counting machine, compounding medications, and maintaining appropriate and adequate stock in all pharmacy areas. Duties will also include operating the point of sale system, answering phones, and general face-to-face customer service.The Pharmacy Technician will prioritize work based on immediate need and rapidly changing workload. Work as a team member to efficiently, accurately perform day-to-day work along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals.

Salary offered commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately retrieve medication and fill orders
  • Able to navigate Willow Ambulatory, pharmacy workflow and prioritize patients effectively
  • Understand the handling of “Hazardous Drugs” and follow all policies related to medication processing
  • Assist in monitoring Parata Max stock levels and refills as needed
  • Assist in weekly and monthly duties, such as cycle counts, return to stock drugs and expired drug pulls
  • Answer/Receive and prescreen phone calls, demonstrating professional phone etiquette
  • Assist in clinic stock pickups and prescription scanning
  • Understand how to operate all equipment (CII safe, Parata Max, fax machines, printers, etc)
  • Deliver employee/patient medications accurately and promptly
  • Able to perform cashier duties and assist patients
  • Maintain security of controlled substances
  • Rotate stock appropriately based on expiration dates
  • Process expired, damaged and recalled pharmacy products
  • Assist in upkeep of sterile and non-sterile compounding areas
  • Assist in recording clean room pressure and temperature logs
  • Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Level I:

  • Pharmacy technician license through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.

Level II:

  • Two (2) years of pharmacy technician work experience
  • Pharmacy technician license through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Level III:

  • Three (3) years of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail setting
  • Pharmacy Technician License through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) issued by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and EMR experience)
