This position has the option of being remote 3 weeks out of the month.

Pharmacy technicians are persons who are skilled or trained in the practical, technical and distributive aspects of pharmacy practice. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in the routine, day to day functions of pharmacy practice. Through the performance of these tasks and through collaboration with pharmacists, technicians allow pharmacists to engage in patient care activities that ultimately improve the quality of patient care. Technicians are supervised by licensed pharmacists who verify the accuracy of their job performance.

Position Reports To: Pharmacy ManagerEssential Functions:
  • Will work under the supervision of a pharmacist in the performance of these duties.
  • Documents activities and findings for the Pharmacist’s review and approval.
  • Ability to provide a high level of Customer Service.
  • Provides effective feedback to supervisor to improve work-flow, work quality and patient safety.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the department.
  • Performs other activities/responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the pharmacy department.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Communicates positively and effectively in a team approach with co-workers within and outside the department.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality standards.
  • Positively affects morale.
  • Responsible for communicating operational and personal concerns, and opportunities for improvement to department leadership.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures appropriate for employment.
  • Performs all tasks with attention to detail and with a mindset of reducing error potential.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Other Functions May Include:

  • Compile and complete a medication profile on ambulatory patients through: Collection of data from the patient’s primary care provider, pharmacy(s), and medication(s) from the ambulatory electronic medical record (EHR).
  • Prepares sterile compounds with accuracy and efficiency, according to policies and procedures.
  • Fills narcotic requisitions and correctly documents all narcotic transactions in the Controlled Substance Manager and Automated Dispensing Devices.
  • Adheres to all policy and procedures related to narcotic documentation, distribution and record keeping.
  • Fills floorstock and Automated Dispensing cabinets, requisitions and other order requests.
  • Restocks emergency medication use kits, including crash carts, medication trays, anaphylaxis kits and rapid sequence intubation kits with accuracy and proficiency.
  • Compounds non-sterile preparations according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs activities and responsibilities related to the automated pharmacy distribution system.
  • Performs deliveries of medications to the patient care areas in a timely manner.
  • Assists in ordering pharmaceuticals, supplies and special orders on a routine and emergency basis.
  • Assists in inventory control.
  • Assists in checking in freight and stocking shelves.
  • Assists in performing inspections checks for outdated medications.
  • Repackages bulk medications into unit dose packages to assist in the delivery and accuracy of patient medications.

  • High School graduate.
  • Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication and password management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Customer service skills.
Desired:
  • Spanish speaking.
  • Knowledge & experience with drug names, dose forms, dosages.
  • Inpatient or outpatient experience.
