SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The People and Culture Specialist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with all departments. This position carries out the day-to-day duties of the following functional areas: employment processing, employee relations, training and development on HR policies and procedures, benefits administration, payroll, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures fluency of employee benefits administration
  • Assists with questions regarding benefits and aids with changes made to benefits
  • Serves as back up for the payroll administrator
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of People Operations policies and processes
  • Assists in maintaining HRIS records and compiles reports from the database
  • Assist with employee relations issues including conflict resolution and counseling
  • Conducts internal investigations involving employee situations, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, and violation of company policies
  • Approve/verify manager requests for transfers, title, or comp changes
  • Assist in terminations and corrective action plans
  • Processes unemployment claims
  • Processes Worker’s Comp claims
  • FMLA, ADA, OSHA, USERRA and FLSA compliance
  • Clearly presents information and prepares reports for management
  • Administers manager training on HR policies and procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned by Director of HR, or (Sr.) Manager of People Operations
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5-7 years Human Resource experience, Preferably in a Generalist role
  • In lieu of degree, combination of education and years of experience will be considered
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in administrative support role for at least 2 years
  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures
  • Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Extreme confidentiality and dependability
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment (ability to re-prioritize and adjust to change)
  • Intermediate Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio a plus
  • Skilled in HRIS, compliance and employee relations is highly preferred
  • Ceridian Dayforce Experience is a plus

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing as necessary.
