The Payroll Specialist II is responsible for contributing to the timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of payroll. This role provides support for processing payroll for the organization. The Payroll Specialist II reports to the Payroll Manager. Responsibilities:
  • Assists with processing monthly and/or semi monthly payroll.
  • Audits time and payroll records and reaches out to employees and /or managers with discrepancies/concerns.
  • Data entry of payroll changes such as advances, deductions, timecard corrections, and time-off adjustments.
  • Processes and coordinates delivery of manual checks.
  • Provides support and training to employees and managers.
  • Takes phone inquiries, monitors shared email box and incoming mail.
  • Remits payroll related invoices for payment.
  • Processes work study project reimbursements.
  • Monitors and resolves workforce movement across states.
  • Processes garnishments.
  • Assists with basic reconciliations.
  • Produces scheduled department payroll reports.
  • Communicates with and responds to state and local agency inquires.
  • Conducts research and provides information as needed to management and other departments.
  • Reports unclaimed property for payroll accounts.
  • Assists with implementation of payroll initiatives and achieving departmental goals.
  • Assists with year-end payroll tasks.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience with payroll of 500+ employees in a multi-state environment
  • Foundational understanding of payroll including garnishments
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience with MS Office products with intermediate proficiency in Excel and Outlook
  • PeopleSoft, Workday and/or Kronos experience preferred

In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
