Job Description

CannaCraft is one of the largest Cannabis companies in California, representing AbsoluteExtracts, Care By Design, and Satori Chocolates. CannaCraft is seeking a highly motivated self-starter as a Payroll Manager.


We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to be responsible for all payroll-related
tasks. The Payroll Manager’s responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee
information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee
payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Remote work is not available for this role.


Job Duties:
  • Analyzes, prepares, and processes payroll data for exempt and nonexempt employees,
ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Processes employment status changes, rate changes, tax withholding changes, wage
garnishments and benefit deductions
  • Completes Verifications of Employment as necessary
  • Checks electronic time reports for consistency and accuracy; clarifies inconsistencies
with supervisors
  • Reviews and verifies employee data entered by Human Resources
  • Enters appropriate data entry information for each pay period and transmits to payroll
processor. Reconciles data entry and transmission to payroll processor to payroll
registers
  • Calculates manual checks for terminated employees
  • Resolves payroll related issues and answers questions in a timely manner taking a
customer service approach when communicating with employees
  • Maintains accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Prepares payroll reports for accounting, management review, and auditing purposes
  • Performs account balance and month-end payroll reconciliations including PTO and
health benefit invoices
  • Prepares monthly journal entries related to payroll
  • Prepares monthly payroll expense variance analysis
  • Performs quarterly payroll expense reconciliation between GL and payroll tax returns
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and Accounting teams
  • Develops and implements payroll practices, policies and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.


Requirements

Remote work is not available for this position.
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Expertise in payroll processing procedures and applicable wage and labor laws
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with payroll software, HRIS systems, and Google Suite
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • A “team player” attitude
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
