The Department

Working in a regional payroll shared service environment, the Payroll Analyst plays an integral role in execution of Tier 1 activities to provide Invesco with accurate and timely payroll as part of the Time to Pay team.

Your Role

The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for performing regular payroll processing tasks, ensuring all payroll documents (inputs and outputs) are received and processed accurately and on time. This role is responsible for checking/resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. The role will also communicate, as directed, with payroll customers to help answer frequently asked questions/inquiries and to help direct/escalate the inquiry after understanding the specific nature of request. This role works independently on more routine/less complex tasks and under the direction of a Regional Sr Manager, Payroll on more complicated assignments.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll impacting changes, tax forms, payments and payroll processing for assigned clients
  • Quality control and auditing to ensure accuracy and low error or defect percentage; correcting data as needed
  • Proactively managing quarter and year-end payroll tasks and auditing
  • Producing timely and accurate gross to net processing and pay distribution
  • Performing other day to day payroll processing activities or administrative duties
  • Specific Tier 1 duties including but not be limited to:
    • Responding to Tier 1 Case Inquiries
    • Employee Payment Corrections
    • Employee Pro-ration Pay Calculation
    • Employee Retro Deductions
    • Time & Attendance Interface File Transmission verification and correction
    • Pay cycle Pre-processing Control Audits
    • Input of Local Payroll Information into payroll systems/templates
    • Comparison/auditing of payroll inputs and outputs
  • Working within Payroll and cross-functional internal business partners (Finance and HR) to resolve Tier 1 employee payroll matters, inquiries, problems and to execute the Time to Pay process flawlessly
  • Following payroll-related compliance policies, procedures, and processes
  • Identifying and presenting solutions for continuous payroll process improvement

The experience you bring:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience relating to US and CA payroll
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience performing payroll specialist activities in the US and Canada
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
  • End-to-end payroll experience preferred
  • ADP payroll experience preferred
  • Clear understanding of payroll, benefits, and taxations
  • Thorough understanding of applicable legislative or other regulatory requirements
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency with analytical tools & advanced features used for comparison/auditing of data
  • Ability to understand & recognize the value of payroll input/output data & what it says about the process
  • Ability to work across internal functional lines to resolve problems
  • Demonstrated strong team player skills
  • Understanding of our underlying business to assess how to better leverage existing, new, or standardized processes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, technically, and effectively with internal and external partners
  • Ability to listen closely and process input from others
  • Ability to collaborate with others to understand and mitigate risks and to solve/resolve problems; action oriented
  • ‘Root cause’ analysis skills to identify opportunities for improvement in everyday activities
  • Service-oriented mindset/customer service aptitude
  • A focus on delivering and maintaining high-quality services, processes, and activities
  • Ability to work with external partners to ensure appropriate service and response levels
  • Associate degree and/or equivalent payroll work experience preferred
