Job Description
Job Summary

The Payment Processing Analyst is responsible for processing all forms of payments and associated activities according to schedule with acute attention to detail. He/she is also responsible for ensuring established policies and procedures relating to payments are followed. Additionally, the Payment Processing Analyst assists with special projects as assigned by the AP Disbursements Manager or Accounts Payable Manager.

Essential Functions

Creates payment groups, processes and as needed prints payments, remits and attachments for daily payment runs

Processes manual payment requests and void requests; reviews documentation for appropriate approvals

Remains current on the status of bank accounts and processes payments accordingly

Performs all aspects of positive pay file transmission to the bank(s) including confirmation of successful file upload and all associated controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of transmitted information

Maintains logs for tracking next payment numbers by bank account and payment type

Maintains payment registers for all payments

Obtains required approvals for disbursements

Reviews and analyzes payment data to ensure correct processing of payment

Reviews special handling requests of payments and processes accordingly

Matches payments/remittance copy to invoices as required

Provides support in daily activities of Scanning & Payment Center

Adheres to internal control structure for payment processing including the safeguarding of checks and check stock

Maintains confidentiality of disbursement information

Investigates discrepancies, apparent errors or deviations from established policy and/or procedures. Communicates and makes corrections as needed

Performs system testing and analysis for all payment processing related functions

Assists in the collection, preparation and analysis of information for internal audits, external audits and projects

Provides excellent customer service consistently to all customers

Follows Company and departmental policies

A team player with strong analytical skills and work ethic

Assists in special projects as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma required.

Associates Degree or higher preferred. Will consider relevant experience of 5 years or more.

3-5 years payment processing experience in a fast-paced working environment.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Oracle experience preferred

Effectively respond to inquiries and requests received from both internal and external sources.

Communicates positively, professionally, clearly and accurately.

Excellent telephone etiquette, oral and written communications.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)

Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities
