Job Description
Under the direction and supervision of an RN, performs a variety of clinical and technical patient care activities. Understands age specific and cultural diversity principles within their scope of practice. C ommunicates with and supports the health care team, patient and/or family/significant other(s). Demonstrates and maintains high standards of professional ethics. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality patient care, a safe environment and a positive patient experience.
High School Diploma or GED required. Must have ability to read and communicate in the English language. Must have recent experience as a CNA/Nurse’s Aide, EMT/Paramedic, Medical Assistant, LPN or be a nursing student who has completed at least one clinical semester. Previous experience as a multi-skilled tech or patient care tech preferred. Maintenance of any CNA, EMT/Paramedic or LPN license/certification is not required after hire. For external candidates: after hire, must complete Acute Care Technician (ACT) course and/or prove competency with phlebotomy, EKG and basic patient care skills. Internal candidates must prove competency prior to transfer. All Patient Care Technicians must have and maintain AHA BLS CPR certification.
