These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential FunctionsReceives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN; assists patients with Activities of Daily Living; reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN; maintains neat and clean stocked areas and patient rooms; cleans equipment between each patient use; assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer; answers patient call lights promptly; operates unit equipment as required; maintains 24-hour urine collections; performs catheter checks, blood glucose monitoring, Incentive Spirometry, Trapeze Bar setup, and enemas; runs unit errands as needed; keeps hallway clear of equipment; distributes water and ice; replaces needle buckets as needed; takes and records vital signs and weight; records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.); signs/initials documentation; assists with completion of daily flow sheet; responds promptly to overhead pages; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients and moving equipment that is necessary to preform essential functions; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and the healthcare team in person and via the telephone; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care for the following patient populations: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; participates in orientation of new employees as assigned; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
