Part-time School Nurse (Lower/Middle)

This School Nurse will work at Kennedy Krieger's Lower/Middle School. This is a part-time position working Wednesday through Friday from 7:45am - 3:45pm during the months of August through June.
During the summer months of July through August, the nurse will work 22.5 hours per week, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:45am- 3:15pm, with alternating days of Monday and Tuesday.
The School Nurse provides direct nursing care for each student. The School Nurse adheres to the standards set by the Maryland Nurse Practice Act and utilizes the nursing process in developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care which will help the students achieve and maintain their optimal level of wellness. The School Nurse involves the parent/guardian, therapist, teacher, and other appropriate staff as needed to promote the student’s level of wellness. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid license as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland.
• Must maintain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or a Compact State.
• Must have current CPR certification.
• Must successfully complete PCM Training course within 12 months of hire.
• Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by the Institute.
• Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

EDUCATION:

• Associate degree in Nursing (AA) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of two years of clinical and/or pediatric experience required.
• Minimum of one year of school health experience required.
