Job Description:
The Phlebotomist will collect a blood and saliva sample from middle school-aged research participants who are enrolled in a reading intervention. Collection will occur primarily on weekends at the Health Discovery Building on the UT Austin campus. This position has a proposed end date of August/September 2022.

General Notes

The Church Lab at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting a certified Phlebotomist to assist with blood and saliva collection for a research protocol beginning this Fall.

Responsibilities

Perform blood draws with adolescent research participants
Collect saliva samples from adolescent research participants
Adhere to set up, collection and storage protocols
Maintain a sanitary collection environment
Fill out tracking forms related to date/time of collection and fridge temperature
Provide occasional support to participants who feel anxious about blood collection (as needed)

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
Current phlebotomy certification
Must have flexible weekend availability to assist with blood and saliva collection for 1-6 hours per week
Experience collecting blood samples from children/adolescents

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish and English

Salary Range

$20-$30/hr

Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished)
May work around biohazards
Use of manual dexterity

Work Shift

Collection will occur primarily on weekends
