Scope of JobThe School of Nursing at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley occasionally has the need to hire non-tenure track Lecturer(s) to teach in its Bachelor’s and/or Master’s programs. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction to students in the classroom, simulated laboratories, and clinical settings. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly work, student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions and are committed to UTRGV’s strategic plan, vision, mission, values and core priorities. Minimum QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas prior to assuming the position. A doctorate is preferred for teaching in the graduate programs.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Preferred QualificationTwo (2) years teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level, evidence of teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship is preferred
Salary Part-time Lecturers are paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications.

Additional InformationUTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
