About the Position:The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.


Responsibilities
  • Receive engine parts and components as well as other than engine parts for painting and other related processing in accordance with established production schedule.
  • Bake parts in a thermostatic oven for prescribed time and given temperatures to obtain essential drying.
  • Mix and apply sealing compound to transmissions, gear boxes and other components, sealing is applied for the protection of the internal mechanism and must be smooth, free of lumps, sags, runs, pin holes, etc.
  • Examine parts to be painted and instructs lower-graded personnel in the process of cleaning and masking of parts prior to painting. Determines color, mixes and blends, pigments, curing agents, graphite.
  • Make corrections on nozzle adjustments, regulates air and material pressure to spray different types of paints, adjusting paints to prescribed viscosity.
  • Determine amount of paint application necessary to obtain and maintain a uniform thickness build-up. Prepares and cuts stencils for application to engine parts, transmissions, rotor-heads, and other components.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painter without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Painter duties/tasks such as, inspecting all incoming items for proper protective devices. Performing all paint process requirements (cleaning, masking, painting and de-masking, cutting stencils by hand or machine). I can check all items for obvious flaws and make corrections. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

    Physical Efforts - Prolonged standing, walking, and continuous lifting. Lifts and positions items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Required to stoop, bend and work in tiring positions. Continual use of arms, hands and fingers.

    Working Conditions - Exposed to paint fumes, compound thinner and various solvents. Works in surroundings requiring the use of protective clothing and gear, e.g., air filter masks, hooded suit, gloves, aprons, etc., as working conditions may warrant. Exposed to heat of oven and the danger of possible burns while handling parts. Subject to considerable noise in shop. Education
