Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the immediate supervision of the Rehab Program Coordinator, the Outpatient Rehab Coordinator employs advanced knowledge of information systems administration and clinical workflow with the Outpatient Rehab Unit. Duties may include, but are not limited to: completes arrangements for outpatient registrations ensuring that each admission conforms to the defined policies and procedures; chart preparation, billing for daily therapy charges in Meditech, insurance authorizations, scheduling of therapy patients and faxing of reports to physician offices; performs related tasks as required. The Coordinator schedules & coordinates procedures for therapists assuring efficient patient flow and records management in accordance with established departmental & SJH-HC policies. Interacts with infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an age-appropriate manner.

Essential Functions:

  • All patients have appropriate authorization for therapy prior to the first appointment.
  • All therapy charts are assembled complete, according to procedure including accurate and timely filing of reports and consults in patient’s charts. Provides therapists with completed charts for new and returning patients on the day of appointments.
  • All therapy charges are entered into Meditech accurately and in timely fashion daily.
  • All new and ongoing patients are scheduled according to therapy prescription.
  • Attends and completes age-specific competency orientation and training.
  • All patients are registered accurately and proficiently, according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
  • Resource Utilization: Ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available, accounted for, and used in a cost-effective manner.
  • Safety: Helps to provide a clean, comfortable environment for customers and others by taking appropriate safety precautions and responds to urgent safety situations effectively.
  • Productivity: Organizes, prioritizes and completes activities in an efficient manner. Demonstrates initiative in assisting others and performing other duties based on skill level and training orientation.
  • Quality Improvement Program: Participates in department problem solving, suggests improvements, and facilitates change.

Skills:

  • Excellent public relations/customer service skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a multi-task environment.
  • Accurate typing skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees, both in person and by telephone.
  • Medical terminology is preferred.
  • Proficient in general computer applications

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Extensive customer-oriented experience.
  • Computer experience.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Coursework/Training - Some college.

Experience: Experience in Meditech.
