Orthopedic Specialist (68B)

Overview:The orthopedic specialist assists with management of orthopedic clinic, or assists in treatment of patients with orthopedic conditions and injuries, under the supervision of an orthopedic physician, orthopedic physician assistant, or podiatrist.

Job Duties:

• Assists physicians in treatment of orthopedic patients
• Removing stitches, sutures or staples
• Assist in orthopedic surgery
• Set up sterile and non sterile procedures
• Help with pre-op of surgery

Training:

• Job training for a orthopedic specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training in Fort Sam Houston.
