Job Description

Penske Logistics is seeking a proven leader with relevant experience and skills to join our team of logistics professionals. The Operations Manager provides direction at a single location, leading the team to ensure customer requirements - supporting our customer’s chain of convenience store/gas stations located along the east coast - are achieved while meeting our Penske goals and objectives. We are seeking a candidate to provide leadership at a fast-paced warehouse/cross-dock operation in Swedesboro, NJ. Staffing consists of 10 supervisors and 100 warehouse associates operating in a 24/7/365 environment. Monday-Friday role with weekend coverage as needed. A candidate with cross-dock, food, and/or experience supporting production is preferred.

Major Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Proactively lead the team, by example, with a plan to eliminate accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.

People

  • Establish trust and effective relationships with associates and external customers.
  • Ensure that supervisors and associates are trained, understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives, and execute as expected.
  • Establish and sustain effective two-way communication that informs and motivates, recognizes excellence among team members, as well as holding the team accountable for results.

Operations

  • Meet or exceed customer key performance metrics and objectives.
  • Interact daily with our local customer to ensure we understand existing and emerging customer needs.
  • Lead team to identify operational improvements, particularly in areas of productivity
  • Collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices, leverage resources/assets, etc.

Finance

  • Collaborate in the development of and lead the team to exceed the Business Plan.
  • Identifies issues with the main drivers of P&L and make required adjustments in timely manner.
  • Ensure customer billing and associate payroll are prepared timely and accurately, the payables and intercompany charges are valid and correct, and all other activities are accurately reflected in the P&L.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years related functional experience required
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Proficiency with tools including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Must have ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with associates and external customers at all levels
  • Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills with follow-up and follow through
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and execute annual financial operating plan
  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
  • Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility for running the operation with a sense of urgency
  • Strong written/oral communication including the ability to present in front of others, and demonstrate active listening skills are required
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
