Job Description

At other organizations, this position would be known as Controller, Business Analyst, Budget Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar. This position reports to the Operations Manager. This is a great opportunity if you have finance and budgeting experience in the natural gas industry or another industry such as automotive, aerospace, insurance, manufacturing, medical, etc.


Position Description:

  • Leads the monthly financial process, in concert with budget owners, for multimillion dollar O&M and Capital budgets. Process includes monthly reporting of prior month variances and accruals at the account level and informing leadership on current month forecast figures.
  • Manipulates financial data and performs pivot based analyses to produce content for basing financial decisions. Regularly analyzes and reviews requirements to improve efficiency of this process.
  • Prepares, processes, reviews, and/or assists with various operating initiatives to comply with Company and/or regulatory requirements. Responsibility may include fleet reporting, fuel reporting, Safety and Health updates and reporting, and other miscellaneous operations reports as necessary.
  • Supports team by executing procurement and contracting agreements following all policies and ensuring compliance with established processes.
  • Develops expertise in proprietary financial and business applications used to establish new charge accounts, process invoices, execute service/material agreements and to track/communicate all financials in the form of raw data and processed metrics.
  • Processes and fulfills requests for information.
  • Files and maintains various forms, reports and correspondences according to company policies and applicable regulations. Assists supervision/management and other employees in maintaining files and reports.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a science or technical field is preferred. Candidate with significant work related experience and directly transferrable skills may be considered.

Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with security and safety protocols and maintains ability to assist in times of emergency response.
  • Strong computer skills (expected proficiency in MS Office and ability to quickly learn proprietary applications). With advanced Excel skills such as data manipulation and analysis with pivot tables and pivot reports, efficiency based Macro development and data presentation through use of charts.
  • Ability to build and manage document libraries in MS SharePoint.
  • Possess excellent skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving and reasoning and the ability to prepare and lead presentations.
  • Ability to evaluate business processes, identify improvements and propose changes accordingly.
  • Ability to perform in a trainer role to educate others on Company processes.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, handling numerous concurrent activities and working within deadlines.


Preference may be given to those with experience in the energy or natural gas industry.
