With this position you will be responsible for the oversight of our online thrift store. You will be ensuring a smooth and profitable flow of day-to-day operations by giving our customers a top-notch online shopping experience. This position has the opportunity of coaching and mentoring employees; assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge to advance in our company. Your work will increase our ability to provide food for the hungry, shelter for veterans, housing for low-income seniors, and a helping hand for struggling families. Our Thrift Store system helps to fund these Social Services programs.

Objective

In the role of Online Store Manager, the objective will be to manage online inventory by posting items and overseeing sales and shipping of inventory.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend and support Thrift functions, meetings, and related task forces
  • Maintain frequent oral and written communication and in-person contact with VOAMI services and operations
  • Gather, evaluate, and report outcomes of key performance metrics
  • Draft a wide variety of written communications as directed to aid in Thrift operations and functions
  • Supervise assigned staff, volunteers, and interns when applicable
  • Provide training, guidance, and feedback to team to ensure standards, department procedures, and customer service expectations are being met
  • Responsible to provide focused and effective customer service. Model high standards of service to achieve positive customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate between Thrift supporting operations including warehouse, donation centers and Thrift stores and propagate effective cooperation among staff at those locations to achieve shared goals
  • Working seamlessly with team and other VOAMI staff to ensure productivity goals are met
  • Flexible and willing to adapt when work needs to shift
  • Onboard, mentor, and develop team members to help them maximize their potential
  • Maintain budget and report on sales and other data as required

Online Store Manager Sales Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acting as quality control to keep our online inventory in tip-top shape
  • Packing and shipping customer orders in a timely manner
  • Styling and photographing items that will be uploaded onto VOAMI online shopping website
  • Manage storage and inventory tracking of items for online store
  • Work collaboratively with thrift retail locations to source items for sale on online store
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Department, support social media promotion of Thrift operations to increase customers, sales, and brand recognition (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with VOA Michigan policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in a timely and orderly fashion so that VOA Michigan functions in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master knowledge of VOAMI, its programs and effect on the community - especially warehouse and Thrift operations
  • Availability to work a non-traditional schedule that includes holidays, evenings and weekends
  • A professional appearance and sensitivity to others
  • Excellent networking skills
  • Must have quality interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail and procedure
  • Autonomy and ability to think innovatively without direct supervision
  • Information technology skills including Excel, Publisher, Word, and various social media outlets
  • Must maintain a valid Michigan Chauffeurs License, driving record that is acceptable to VOAMIs insurer and ability to drive a VOAMI van

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in both office and outdoor settings and travels frequently, often utilizing company provided transportation and support resources for travel. Work hours vary and require nights and weekends to meet donor and volunteer schedules. Interact with staff, consultants, various marketplace segments and vendors. Must stay focused while attending to multiple interruptions in the workday. May be subject to hostile and/or emotionally upset staff, clients, or volunteers.
